Project Scope
Kyber Pakhtunkhwa Human Capital Investment Project (KPHCIP) is a comprehensive initiative funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP). The project objective is to improve availability, utilization, and quality of primary healthcare services and elementary education services in selected districts of KP.
The Education component of the project seeks to improve the quality of education in the region by improving access to education, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, and promoting community engagement and accountability. The project operates in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, and Haripur, with a focus on areas with Afghan refugee populations.
The KPHCIP (Education) has the following three sub-components:
- Improve access to elementary and secondary education (with a special focus on girls)
- Improve the quality of teaching and learning in targeted districts’ schools
- Enhance community engagement and accountability
AiD has been commissioned to conduct third-party monitoring and validation of the KPHCIP (Education).
Services
AiD’s role within the KPHCIP (Education) project encompasses a comprehensive range of monitoring and technical assistance services related to the sub-components of the education portfolio. This includes Verification and validation services, which involve assessing the performance of implementing partners by verifying activities and outputs, reviewing relevant documents, conducting physical visits to project sites, and offering evidence-based recommendations for program improvements; and Compliance reviews, particularly regarding environmental and social aspects and adherence to World Bank standards. Additionally, AiD is responsible for various reporting and monitoring tasks, including flash monitoring reports for critical issues, regular monitoring reports, and ongoing tracking of recommendations and adherence to them through direct engagement with implementing partners and KPHCIP.
