Who We Are
The AiD Water Resources & Infrastructure Division is a specialized arm of Associates in Development (AiD), dedicated to delivering integrated engineering and consulting solutions in water resource management, irrigation, flood protection, and infrastructure development. The Division is led by Mr. Sajjad Muneer Sheikh, Executive Director – Water Resources & Infrastructure, a highly accomplished Civil Engineer with more than five decades of
professional experience. He has successfully delivered projects across Australia, UK, Iran, Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia, Botswana, Angola, Nigeria, Cameroun, Chad, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan, France, Netherlands, and Japan. With such global reach, combined with AiD’s institutional presence in Pakistan, Afghanistan, the UK, and the USA, the Division blends international best practices with local knowledge to deliver sustainable and resilient solutions.

A. Dams and Hydropower Development
- Pre-Feasibility Study for 5,300 MW Bunji Hydroelectric Project, River Indus (WAPDA) – Comprehensive feasibility analysis for one of Pakistan’s largest proposed hydropower schemes.
- Mangla Dam Raising Project (WAPDA) – Technical support for reservoir capacity enhancement and structural safety.
- 1,200 MW Kohalla Hydropower Project – Feasibility and technical advisory services.
- 640 MW Azad Pattan Hydropower Project – Engineering and design support for run-of-river hydropower development.
- 404 MW UCH-II Expansion Project – Expansion advisory for thermal efficiency improvement and generation optimization.
- Bara Dam Multipurpose Project (Irrigation Dept., Govt. of KP) – Feasibility update, design, and preparation of tender documents for an integrated water storage and irrigation dam.
B. Irrigation and Water Resources Management
- Kurram Tangi Integrated Water Resources Development Project (NWA/KP) – Institutional review under ADB-funded Technical Assistance led by AiD in 2019.
- Gomal Zam Irrigation Project (USAID) – Milestone verification services for irrigation and command area development.
- ERDA Project (USAID-funded) – Component 1: Command Area Development for Gomal Zam Dam and irrigation schemes across Newly Merged Districts.
- Amandara Headworks (KP) – Technical Assistance under the USAID-funded QIP (2015–16), including design of a large weir for drinking water supply in South Waziristan.
- Irrigation Sector Technical Assistance (ADB-funded) – Feasibility and TA under Malakand Rural Development, Barani Area Development Phase II, and FATA Rural Development Projects across KP.
- Project Monitoring & Evaluation Consultants for Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (World Bank-funded, Ongoing) – Performance monitoring and evaluation of On-Farm Water Management interventions across multiple districts.
- KP Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (ADB/Govt. of KP) – Monitoring and evaluation of watercourses, irrigation systems, and on-farm storage structures.
- Malakand Rural Development, Barani Area Development Phase II, and FATA Rural Development Projects (ADB-funded) – Feasibility and TA for multi-sector irrigation interventions.
C. Water Supply and Flood Protection
- Abbottabad Water Supply Improvement Project (PHED KP) – Rehabilitation of gravity-fed water supply systems.
- Review & Updation of Integrated Urban Water & Sanitation Master Plan, Peshawar (SDC/WSSP) – Updating the city’s water and sanitation master plan.
- Solar Energy for Water Supply Schemes (FATA DA) – Solar pumping systems installed across 47 rural schemes.
- Flood Rehabilitation in Chail Valley, Swat (SDC/WFP) – Disaster risk reduction, construction of check dams, and flood protection infrastructure.
- EU/KfW Aid to Uprooted People Program (KP) – Monitoring and rehabilitation of irrigation and flood protection works in post-crisis regions.
- KfW – Rehabilitation & Reintegration Program of Temporarily Displaced People – FATA(KP) – Monitoring and rehabilitation of irrigation and flood protection works in post-crisis regions.
D. Infrastructure and Port Development
