Narrative description of Project:

Livelihhods Programme is the SDC funded project in selected districts of KP. The purpose of this research was to analyse climate change and its impact on agriculture and water resources. It also analyze the perceptions of local communities regarding the changing climatic conditions and its effects on their livelihood including farming and livestock. It also highlighted the hazards they are prone to mainly floods and what the locals have adapted to minimize their losses against those hazards. A survey was conducted in three regions for which questionnaires were prepared and Focused group discussions were held by research associates. The research served as important base for the planners to suggest future strategies for adaptation to change, mainly in the field of food production. This set of information is particularly useful for agricultural researchers and extension agents so that they can provide a right set of guidance to the farmers and ensure that practices are adjusted according to the change and losses are consistently minimized at farmers’ but also at national level for the benefit of all. Several workshops were also held with the government officials to inform them about the results.
