Narrative description of project:
Bara Dam Multipurpose Project is located on Bara River in District Khyber, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The catchment area at the proposed site is about 1,793 km2, extending both in Khyber and Orakzai Districts. The reservoir of the proposed dam extends both in Bara and Mastura valleys.
Two major Irrigation Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa schemes exist on Bara River; namely Bara River Canals Scheme (BRCS) and Bara Canals Irrigation Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Scheme (BCIS). These Irrigation Department, KP schemes play an important role in the agro-economic development of District Khyber and the adjoining areas of Peshawar. However, over the years, these have not been functioning to their respective design capacities due to lack of assured water supplies.
Description of actual services provided by your staff within this assignment:
The Consultants are required to;
- Review available Feasibility Reports and update all existing studies, reports and data available, including but not limited to the Perspective Planning Study of Small Dams in FATA, 2002; and Feasibility Study conducted by EX-FATA DA, 2008;
- Based on the results from the previous studies, undertake additionally required studies/ investigations including but not limited to Geological and Geotechnical Studies; Hydrological data collection studies; Neo & Seism tectonic Studies; Seismic Risk Analysis; Hydropower Development Studies; Soil and Agriculture Studies; Drinking Water Supply, Ground Water Recharge, Fisheries Development Studies; Socio-Economic Studies; Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) with Environment Management Plan (EMP) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA) with Resettlement Action Plan (RAP); Construction Planning & Contract Packaging; and Financial and Economic Analysis.
- Preparation of Project Planning Report based on the conducted studies.
- Preparation of Land Acquisition & Resettlement Plan with Complete detail of infrastructure under submergence & resettlement plan and details of dislocation (if any) along with complete compensation plan.
- Detailed Engineering Design
- Preparation of Tender Documents & PC-I
