Project Scope
The primary objective of the mini survey was to determine the fundamental causes of teachers’ absenteeism in the government primary and elementary schools in FATA. The study aimed to uncover root causes of absenteeism from the perspectives of both the teachers and parents. One of the aims of the study was to guide the future education related policies to be designed and implemented by UNICEF.
Services
This assignment had two broad components: (1) Schools’ survey with: school authorities, heads, School Management Committees, as well as teachers (particularly female), parents and Teachers’ Union representatives; and (2) Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with parents and students and Key Informant Interviews with FATA Education Authorities. The primary areas covered: (1) Mohmand Agency; (2) Bajaur Agency; (3) FR Peshawar; (4) FR Tank; and (5) South Waziristan. Field teams surveyed primary and elementary schools across the five regions.
The final report detailed the findings of the quantitative and qualitative analysis; detailing the root causes of absenteeism and suggesting possible remedies.
