Project Scope
This research was part of a larger Agent Network Accelerator (ANA) project funded by Gates Foundation. Micro Save, a Kenya based market research firm, was awarded the funding to conduct the research in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Kenya and Tanzania among many other countries. The research had been designed to increase global understanding of how to build and manage sustainable CICO networks in poor communities. Micro Save commissioned Associates in Development (AiD) to administer and carry out the quantitative research component in Pakistan. This was the second wave of the project with the funding being provided by Karandaaz.
Services
The research included 3,000 quantitative surveys across Pakistan (including Punjab, KP, Sindh, Baluchistan, AJK and GB) with retail agents of branchless banking network service providers. A robust random sampling design stratified at district level was adopted to ensure the reliability of collected data and gather nationally representative research findings. The survey was conducted using digital devices, PDAs, using a customized Android-based enumeration software. AiD team provided sample design, enumeration and data quality assurance services to Micro Save. A team of 25 surveyors was engaged to carry out enumeration activities across more than 20 districts of Pakistan.
