Project Scope

The project scope included a turnkey initiative that was aimed at improving the status of primary, middle and high school education through a multi-faceted program covering new schools’ construction, up-gradation, rehabilitation and provision of essential inputs for 130 schools scattered in the tribal agencies and the frontier regions (FRs) of FATA and the earthquake zones of KPK and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
New Construction: Construction of new schools and also included reconstruction of un-inhabitable schools buildings
Upgradation: Provision of additional facilities including boundary walls, play grounds, water tanks, toilets and electrification
Equipment: Need based furniture and equipment was provided to 65 schools

Services

The project was implemented in four phases:
Phase-1: Preliminary assessments and recommendations on the existing school facilities including water supply, sanitation and drainage lines based on AiD field surveys and technical assessments, this included assessment of 130 school sites
Phase-2: Design and costing of water supply, sanitation and drainage lines of all 130 schools was based on site specific design and costing which included upgrading existing schools and building new ones
Phase 3: Construction of 65 new and upgradation of primary, middle and high schools and its construction management
Phase 4: Provision of furniture and equipment to all the existing and 65 newly constructed education facilities.
Services included;

• Conducting necessary field visits, topographic surveys (providing as-built situation with all utilities and relevant information), Geo-technical investigations and tests
• Detailed designing and supervision of water sanitation & hygiene (wash) component
