Project Scope

The scope of the project included:
• Regaining the reservoir capacity lost due to sedimentation
• Storing more water for irrigation releases
• Minimize conservation of flood discharges and thereby
• Enhance Irrigation releases

AiD support entailed provision of technical human resource/expertise to ensure smooth and efficient achievement of the target related to Mangla Dam Raising Project. The partners comprised of a group of five companies, three Local (M/s NESPAK, M/s ACE and M/s Barqaab) and two foreign firms (M/s BBV and M/s
MWH). Besides, M/s AiD Pvt. Ltd. two other local companies, viz, M/s TC International of Karachi and M/sPACEof Hyderabad are part of the MJV group.

Services

The consultancy services of the project involved; i) Detailed Engineering and Tender Documentation Phase, ii) Bidding and Award of Construction Contract(s) Phase, providing information and replying to queries made by the prospective bidders, evaluation of bids and assisting the client in finalization and award of the contract, iii) Construction Supervision where AiD’s main contribution for the assignment was to supervise the construction of works, supply and installation of mechanical/electrical equipments and supervision of water supply and sanitation networks of Mangla housing schemes in accordance with the specifications and drawings. AiD inputs focused on quality assurance and construction supervision, through the provision of technical expertise. Relevant supervision projects included:

1. Construction Supervision of Remaining Works of Public Buildings in New City – Package 1 (Contract MDR – 28A)
2. Construction Supervision of Remaining Works of Public Buildings in New City – Package 2 (Contract MDR – 29A)
3. Construction Supervision of Remaining Works of Public Buildings in Small Towns near Islamgarh and
Chaksawari (Contract MDR – 35A)
4. Construction Supervision of Remaining Works of Public Buildings in Small Towns
near Dudial and Siakh (Contract MDR- 36A)
5. Conducting necessary field visits, topographic surveys (providing as-built situation with all utilities and relevant information), Geo-technical investigations and tests
6. Detailed designing and supervision of water sanitation & hygiene (wash) component
