Project Scope
The AusAID funded Expanded Early Recovery Project (EERP) was part of the overall efforts to support KPK government’s Post Conflict Needs Assessment (PCNA), Malakand Strategy and the National Flood
Strategy. The project, implemented by SRSP, was implemented in the seven districts of Malakand Division, namely Swat, Malakand, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Buner, Shangla and Chitral. The project was spread over nine months (May 2011-Jan 2012) with a financial outlay of 255 million PKR. The overarching goal of the project was to rehabilitate lives, support essential infrastructure and thus build resilient communities in areas hit by floods and insurgency. Amongst others, Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI) schemes were largest (93% of development budget) component of the project. Overall the project was able to form 395 Community
Based Organizations (CBOs), rebuilding/restoration of 213 CPI schemes benefitting 37,000 HHs; imparting enterprise/vocational training to 700 households especially women; and encouraging local/political
leadership and media to visit communities for learning.
Services
Services included;
• Conducting necessary field visits, topographic surveys (providing as-built situation with all utilities and relevant information), Geo-technical investigations and tests
• Detailed designing and supervision of water sanitation & hygiene (wash) component The overall aim was to generate an evaluation report that would support SRSP’s culture of internal learning and accountability in SRSP programming processes.
