The GIZ-implemented project of Conservation and Management of Biodiversity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (BKP) was conceptualized with the understanding that besides the goods and services, the biodiversity has a major role in the sustainable development of the country in general and local population and environment in particular. The objective of the BKP project was to work with both public and private actors at the provincial and pilot district levels (Swat and Chitral) to increasingly apply the experiences gained from the pilot projects for the Conservation and Sustainable Management of Biodiversity (COSMOB) under the changing climatic conditions in the province.
AiD successfully implemented the following tasks under this project
- The 4 day workshop was facilitated by the resource persons to the government officials (line departments- agriculture, forestry, soil conservation, on-farm water management, livestock and fisheries in Swat and Chitral districts).
- An orientation training to the government/ GIZ field teams in Swat and Chitral.
- Capacity Needs Assessment/ Training Needs Assessment of biodiversity related line departments.
- Facilitation of the teams for community meetings and discussions using Participatory rural appraisal (PRA) tools.
