The primary objective of the mini survey was to determine the fundamental causes of teachers' absenteeism in the government primary and elementary schools in FATA. The study aimed to uncover root causes of absenteeism from the perspectives of both the teachers and parents. One of the aims of the study was to guide the future education related policies to be designed and implemented by UNICEF.
AiD delivered following two components of the assignment:
1) Schools' survey with: school authorities, heads, School Management Committees, as well as teachers (particularly female), parents and Teachers' Union representatives; and
(2) Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with parents and students and Key Informant Interviews with FATA Education Authorities.
The assessment covered Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency, FR Peshawar, FR Tank, and South Waziristan Agency. Field teams surveyed primary and elementary schools across these five regions.
