Project Scope:

 

The land use potential for agro-forestry is determined by various factors including climatic/ physical and ultimately geographic conditions, socio-economic conditions such as landownership, land use rights, community preferences/ traditions and markets. In addition to above, community awareness, knowledge and capacities plays key role in determining types and choices of species. During the field survey, these factors were assessed and on the basis of which conclusions and recommendations drawn.

 

 

The scope and objectives of the study were mainly:

 

 

·         To study current land use and agro-forestry practices

·         To identify hotspots (those under severe soil and/ or river bank erosion)

·         To propose solutions to combat soil erosion through afforestation/ bioengineering measures and other low cost structural measures.
