Project Scope:
Launched in October 2010, the Assessment and Strengthening Program (ASP) for Civil Society Organizations and Government of Pakistan was a five-year US$ 45 million USAID-funded initiative that will strengthen the capacity of local organizations to effectively manage development funds. ASP was being implemented by three Pakistani organizations; Associates in Development (AiD), Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). The program targeted a wide range of public and non-governmental partners in the entire country.
The project components included:
- Development of Institutional Assessment Framework and Associated Tools
- Pre-award Assessment
- Capacity Building for Institutional Strengthening, and
- Compliance Assessment and Endorsement
Services:
AiD-ASP provided technical support for the "Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening component through:
- Development of capacity building plans
- Customized capacity building interventions that cover policies and procedures; development of systems for planning, budgeting, procurement, M&E and management as well as training program in multiple areas
- Selecting suitable delivering mechanisms for activities while designing and developing the resource material
- Engaging, training of resource organizations and trainers
